Patrick Gibson will step into the role of a young James Bond for IO Interactive and Amazon’s upcoming video game, 007 First Light.

The game was first showcased at the September 2025 State of Play event, giving fans a glimpse of Gibson as a rookie MI6 agent learning the ropes of the world’s most famous spy.

007 First Light tells the story of Bond in his early days, portraying him as clever, daring, and occasionally reckless while going through MI6’s training program. Gibson will be joined by a talented voice cast, including Lennie James as Greenway, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, and Noémie Nakai as Ms. Roth.

The game is set to launch on March 27, 2026, and will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2. Fans can pre-order the standard edition for $69.99, which includes an automatic upgrade to the deluxe edition, offering early access and cosmetic content.

A special edition is also available for $299.99 and includes collectibles such as a Golden Gun figurine, a certificate of authenticity, and exclusive in-game content.

While 007 First Light has cast its James Bond, the live-action film series has not yet confirmed the next actor to play the iconic spy.

This game represents a fresh look at James Bond, exploring the spy’s origins and showing fans how he became the agent they know from the films. It offers an interactive way to experience Bond’s early adventures and provides context for his growth as a character.

From my perspective, casting Patrick Gibson as a young James Bond is an exciting move. It gives players a chance to see a different side of the character and expands the 007 universe into video games in a meaningful way. The release of 007 First Light could set a strong foundation for future storylines in both gaming and film.

What do you think about Patrick Gibson taking on the role of James Bond? Do you prefer seeing the story in a game format first or are you waiting for the next movie? Share your thoughts in the comments.
