A New ‘Punisher’ Project Is Reportedly in Development at Marvel

A new Punisher project is reportedly in early development, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman. The report comes shortly after the release of the character’s latest special, The Punisher: One Last Kill, which arrived on Disney+ as part of the MCU.

The rumor suggests Marvel Studios may not be done with Frank Castle, even after the recent standalone special that was designed as a continuation of his story. While no official details have been confirmed, the timing has sparked discussion among fans about what direction the character could take next.

The Punisher: One Last Kill is a Marvel Studios Special Presentation directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and co-written by Green and Jon Bernthal. The project continues the story of Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, and is set within the wider MCU timeline under Marvel Television.

Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle, reprising his role from earlier Marvel projects, including his Netflix series The Punisher and the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. The special also features returning cast members such as Deborah Ann Woll and Jason R. Moore, with Judith Light joining as crime boss Ma Gnucci.

The story follows Frank Castle as he struggles with the aftermath of his violent past while attempting to move forward from his life as a vigilante. However, he is pulled back into conflict when new threats emerge, forcing him to confront unfinished business.

The idea for the special reportedly developed during production on Daredevil: Born Again, with Bernthal and Green working closely with Marvel Studios to shape the project. Filming took place in New York City, and the special was released on May 12, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.

For now, Marvel has not officially confirmed the rumored new Punisher project, and details about its format or story remain unknown.
