A Sneaky Old Favorite Is Back in the Spotlight on Hulu This Week
Hulu’s Top 10 movie chart tends to be dominated by fresh franchise titles, but this week’s rankings tell a different kind of story. That is exactly what happened when an X account tracking Hulu’s daily movie rankings posted the platform’s Top 15, revealing a mix of blockbusters, catalog deep cuts and one very unexpected romantic comedy. Sitting at number 14 was ‘Something’s Gotta Give,’ the 2003 Nancy Meyers film starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, right between newer titles like ‘Muzzle: City of Wolves’ and the disaster epic ‘Jurassic World.’

Topping the same chart is ‘Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear,’ the Blink-182 drummer’s new documentary that dominated conversation this week after its wide release. The film debuted on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on August 13, chronicling Barker’s journey from working as a trash collector in Laguna Beach to becoming the band’s drummer, and his recovery from a plane crash that nearly killed him. Ten years in the making, it is billed as the first documentary to chronicle his life in full, and it premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival before landing on streaming.
The documentary, co-directed by Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer, features appearances from late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, Barker’s Blink-182 bandmates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge, and his wife Kourtney Kardashian. It opens with Barker aboard the Queen Mary 2, sailing across the Atlantic since flying remained off the table for years due to his trauma from the crash, before eventually returning to the skies with Kardashian’s help in 2021.
‘Something’s Gotta Give’ was never a niche title to begin with. The romantic comedy grossed 266.7 million dollars worldwide against an 80 million dollar budget upon its 2003 release, and earned Diane Keaton an Academy Award nomination for her performance. That pedigree may explain why so many casual scrollers are stopping to double take when they see it wedged between ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Men in Black’ on a modern streaming chart.
