Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have officially married in New York City in a large, highly public ceremony held at Madison Square Garden. The event drew huge crowds, major celebrities, and heavy security, turning one of Manhattan’s busiest areas into a private wedding venue for two days.

The ceremony was confirmed by Swift’s longtime publicist Tree Paine and was officiated by comedian Adam Sandler. The publicist shared details about the wedding outfits and planning. The couple reportedly wore custom-made Christian Dior designs created by Jonathan Anderson, working closely with both stars. Their shoes were made by Christian Louboutin, and Swift also wore Cartier jewelry for the event.

The wedding itself was highly unusual in scale and location. Madison Square Garden, normally used for concerts and sports events, was completely taken over for the celebration. Streets around the arena were closed, and parts of Midtown Manhattan were blocked off by the New York City Police. Tents, barriers, and controlled entry points were set up to manage the large guest list and protect privacy.

Guests included many well-known figures from entertainment and sports. Among those spotted were Hugh Grant, Jason Sudeikis, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Ethan Hawke, and singer Benson Boone. Several members of Kelce’s football circle also attended, along with other close friends of the couple.

The event was spread across two days. On Thursday, a smaller gathering described in permits as a “pre-party” took place with around 100 guests. On Friday, the main ceremony and larger celebration followed, with the arena and surrounding area fully transformed for the wedding.

Outside the venue, fans gathered in large numbers. “Swifties” lined the streets for hours, singing songs and waiting for any glimpse of the bride and groom. Some climbed scaffolding and structures nearby to get a better view. The crowd grew more active as blacked-out SUVs arrived carrying guests into the venue through a covered entrance.

Inside and outside the arena, the city reacted strongly to the event. Screens around Madison Square Garden displayed messages celebrating the marriage, including “JUST&T MARRIED,” referring to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The Empire State Building also lit up in celebration.

BBC reporting described the wedding as one of the most high-profile celebrity events in recent memory. Pop culture critic Kristen Meinzer said, “We worship at the throne of music and football, these are all the things we love in America married together.”

She also pointed out how the couple represent two major parts of American entertainment culture, with Swift dominating global music and Kelce being a major figure in American football.

Security around the event was extremely tight, with police controlling traffic and redirecting pedestrians. Even with curtains and tents placed around entrances, many guests were still seen arriving, including musicians, actors, and athletes.

Some residents questioned the disruption caused by shutting down such a major part of the city. One local said, “I hope it’s a beautiful wedding… but I think they should do it somewhere that’s less inconveniencing to general populace of New York City.”

Despite the disruption, many fans celebrated the moment. One attendee said, “She’s never an inconvenience. Taylor can do whatever she wants.”

The wedding has been described as one of the most expensive and high-profile celebrity celebrations in recent years, with estimates suggesting that renting the venue and securing the area likely cost millions. Reports also say the couple made large charitable donations ahead of the ceremony, though no formal link was made between those donations and the wedding itself.

With global attention focused on New York City, the event blended entertainment, sports, and celebrity culture into one large public spectacle. According to BBC reporting, it stands as one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings in recent memory.
