A new music video from the AI character Tilly Norwood is attracting attention online after the virtual performer released a song that directly addresses criticism of artificial intelligence in entertainment.

Norwood, a digital personality created by the company Particle6, appears in the video for the track “Take the Lead.” In the song, she responds to concerns about AI replacing artists and creative workers. One of the main lines in the track says, “AI’s not the enemy, it’s the key.”

The video shows the AI character moving through scenes that present her as a global celebrity. She appears across London on large billboards, visits television talk shows, and poses for photos with fans. In other moments, the character performs in large stadiums as if she were a major pop star.

The visuals later become more unusual. The clip features bright pink scenes with flamingos, a plane decorated with Tilly’s name, flying dolphins, and other surreal imagery. In one scene, a young girl is seen holding a doll based on the digital star. Another moment shows Norwood struggling to pass a CAPTCHA test designed to confirm that a user is human.

Particle6 produced the project and says the video is part of a larger plan for the character. The company claims it will soon introduce what it calls Norwood’s “official AI acting debut.” The release also introduces the idea of the “Tillyverse,” a cloud-based entertainment world where digital characters can live and interact.

The idea for the song came from an essay written by Eline van der Velden, the CEO of Particle6 and the AI talent studio Xicoia. She is also the performer behind the digital character. According to the creators, the song reflects the strong reactions Norwood received when she first appeared last year, while also highlighting the creative side of the technology.

The track encourages performers to experiment with artificial intelligence. Some lyrics suggest actors should create their own AI versions of themselves to gain more control over their work.

The music itself was generated using the AI tool Suno. The video was produced by Particle6 using several AI programs along with the company’s own production process. Van der Velden also performed the movements for the character through performance capture.

Even though the project focuses on AI, the production involved a team of 18 people. The group included roles such as director, executive producer, costume designer, editor, and several technical specialists who worked on the creative process.

Van der Velden said the purpose of the character was never to replace actors but to explore new creative possibilities.

“Tilly is, and has always been, a vehicle to test the creative capabilities and boundaries of AI – not take anyone’s job. As an actor myself, I have loved bringing Tilly alive for this video and feel that the ability to now use performance capture in this way, to fully inhabit an AI character, is a phenomenal way to bring an unknown actor like me closer to the craft,” she said.

She also emphasized that human creativity remains essential when working with new technology.

“However, at the end of the day, even with brilliant new technology, it’s still important to stress that great AI content isn’t instant — it always takes good ideas, taste, direction, judgement and time. In other words: people remain at the heart of it.”

Projects like this show how quickly AI is entering the world of music, film, and online entertainment. Some people see it as an exciting creative tool, while others worry about its impact on artists and performers. The conversation around AI in entertainment will likely continue as more digital characters appear. What do you think about an AI pop star releasing music and preparing for acting roles?
