Alan Cumming might’ve gotten a little too comfortable as the guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! recently. During an episode featuring the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the actor brought up the usual Marvel secrecy topic, asking his guests how hard it’s been to avoid leaking spoilers.

But things got awkward, and funny, when Pedro Pascal, who plays Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, quickly turned the question back on Cumming.

“It’s funny that you should ask,” Pascal said with a grin. “The biggest leak that we’ve had comes from our host.”

He was, of course, referring to Cumming’s accidental slip back in May. That’s when Cumming hinted at a major fight between his character, Nightcrawler, and Pascal’s Mister Fantastic in Avengers: Doomsday. At the time, the reveal set off waves of fan speculation, and apparently also earned Cumming a stern phone call.

“My publicist called me,” Cumming confessed. “You know the wrath of your publicist is, not the wrath you want to have.”

Trying to deflect the heat, Cumming then flipped the question again, asking Pascal if the fight between Mister Fantastic and Nightcrawler was actually happening. Pascal, caught off guard, stayed silent before both actors playfully denied anything was spoiled.

Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a massive event. It’s the next big team-up movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Endgame, and it brings together the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the X-Men. They’ll all be going up against Doctor Doom, played by none other than Robert Downey Jr.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, the film has one of the most stacked casts Marvel has ever assembled. Alongside Pascal and Cumming, names like Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, and Ian McKellen are all returning or joining the universe.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters in the US on December 18, 2026. A follow-up film, Secret Wars, is already set for the following year.

Until then, Marvel fans will be keeping a close eye on interviews, especially when Alan Cumming’s in the room.
