All the Loves of Brigitte Bardot: A Look at the Icon’s Passionate Life
Brigitte Bardot, the French actress who rose to fame as an international s** symbol before leaving the film industry to become an animal rights activist, has passed away at the age of 91.
Despite the controversies that often surrounded her career, Bardot remained one of cinema’s greatest icons. Known for her free-spirited and provocative presence, she helped define the French New Wave, and even though she retired from acting in 1973, her legacy continues to resonate. She is remembered not only for her remarkable film career but also for her eventful and highly publicized love life. Let’s check out some of her greatest loves.
1. Roger Vadim

Brigitte Bardot’s first marriage was to director Roger Vadim, whom she married at the age of 18 in 1952. Vadim was six years her senior, and although their marriage ended in divorce in 1957, they remained friends and continued to collaborate professionally. During this marriage, Bardot had an affair with actor Jean-Louis Trintignant on the set of And God Created Woman in 1956, which contributed to the breakup.
2. Jean-Louis Trintignant

Following her divorce, Bardot lived with Jean-Louis Trintignant for two years, but the relationship ended partly because she began a new affair with musician Gilbert Bécaud.
3. Jacques Charrier

Bardot’s second husband was actor Jacques Charrier. They married in 1959 after meeting on the film Babette Goes to War and had a son, Nicolas, seven months later. Bardot later admitted that motherhood did not fulfill her.
Their marriage ended in 1962, reportedly influenced by her affair with Hollywood actor Glenn Ford. Nicolas grew up mainly with his father and reconnected with Bardot only in adulthood. Between 1963 and 1965, Bardot was involved with musician Bob Zagury.
4. Gunter Sachs

In 1966, Bardot married her third husband, German millionaire Gunter Sachs, who famously wooed her with a helicopter showered with rose petals. The marriage was short-lived, as she began an affair with singer Mike Sarne shortly after. Their divorce was finalized in 1969. During this period, Bardot also dated actor Patrick Gilles from 1968 to 1971.
5. Numerous relationships prior to the final marriage

Over the next two decades, Bardot had a series of high-profile romances with famous men, including singer Serge Gainsbourg, actor Warren Beatty, writer John Gilmore, and ski instructor Christian Kalt. She had longer relationships with sculptor and actor Miroslav Brozek from 1975 to 1979, and with TV producer Allain Bougrain-Dubourg from 1980 to 1985.
6. Bernard d’Ormale

Bardot’s fourth and final husband was Bernard d’Ormale, a businessman and adviser to Jean-Marie Le Pen. They met in 1992 and married in August of that year. This marriage helped her repair her relationship with her son, and it became her longest-lasting union, outlasting her previous three marriages.
