A new TV series based on the classic video game Wolfenstein is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios, according to an exclusive report from Variety.

Not much has been revealed about the plot yet, but the official description for the show simply reads: “The story of killing Nazis is evergreen.” That short line gives a clear idea of what to expect: action, resistance, and lots of Nazi-fighting.

The show is being created by Patrick Somerville, who will also be the writer, executive producer, and showrunner. He’s working under his production company chaoticgood.tv. Somerville is no stranger to unique and intense stories, he’s previously worked on Station Eleven, Maniac, and The Leftovers, and he’s also written novels and short stories.

Kilter Films, the team behind Amazon’s hit series Fallout, is also involved. Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham will executive produce the new Wolfenstein series under Kilter Films. James Altman from Keyframe Films and Jerk Gustafsson from MachineGames, the studio behind the Wolfenstein games, are also on board as executive producers.

This isn’t the first time someone tried to bring Wolfenstein to the screen. Back in 2012, a movie version was announced with Roger Avary set to write and direct, but it never went anywhere. Now, more than a decade later, it looks like the story is finally getting its shot on TV.

If this project gets the green light to move forward, it will join a growing list of game-based shows from Amazon. Kilter Films is already working on season two of Fallout, which is set to premiere in December.

The company is also producing an adaptation of Fourth Wing with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society and was behind shows like The Peripheral, Westworld, and Person of Interest.

Somerville has been a fan of Wolfenstein since he was a kid, so this project is something personal for him. It sounds like he’s ready to bring the game’s wild, over-the-top energy to a whole new audience. The news was first posted by Variety.
