Amazon Prime Video Renews Breakout Romance Hit for Season 2
According to information from Amazon Prime Video announcements, the romantic drama series “Every Year After” has officially been renewed for a second season.
The series only recently premiered on Amazon Prime Video on June 10, after its world debut at the Tribeca Festival on June 8. Despite being new, it quickly gained enough attention for the platform to move forward with another season. The renewal was confirmed in late June.
“Every Year After” is a romantic drama developed by Amy B. Harris and Leila Gerstein. It is based on the novel “Every Summer After” by Carley Fortune. The story focuses on nostalgia, lost love, and emotional connections that stretch across years. The upcoming second season is expected to continue the story using the second book in the series, titled “One Golden Summer.”
The show follows Percy Fraser, played by Sadie Soverall, who returns to her childhood summer town in Barry’s Bay, Canada, after many years away. She is now working as an obituary writer and comes back for a funeral that forces her to reconnect with people from her past. One of the key figures in her life is Sam Florek, played by Matt Cornett, her childhood best friend and former boyfriend, who now works as a cardiologist.

Other main characters include Charlie Florek, played by Michael Bradway, Sam’s older brother and a hedge fund manager, and Delilah Mason, played by Abigail Cowen, who is both Percy’s childhood frenemy and part of the Florek brothers’ friend group. Aurora Perrineau plays Chantal, Percy’s current best friend who works as an attorney, while Joseph Chiu plays Jordie, Sam’s best friend and the owner of the Bay Breeze Motel.
The series builds its emotional tension through relationships that shift over time, especially between Percy and Sam, whose past connection remains unresolved. The setting of Barry’s Bay plays an important role in the story, acting as a reminder of the characters’ shared history and unresolved emotions.
Even with these mixed reactions, the show’s renewal suggests strong viewer interest and solid performance for Amazon Prime Video. The decision to continue the series into a second season indicates that the platform sees long-term potential in the story and its audience.
As of now, no release date has been announced for Season 2, but it is expected to follow the storyline of “One Golden Summer,” continuing Percy’s emotional journey and her complicated history with Sam and the Florek family.
