This latest version comes from showrunner Nick Antosca, known for Antlers and Channel Zero, who also produces alongside Alex Hedlund, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey. The pilot was directed by Morten Tyldum, who remains an executive producer throughout the series. The cast also includes Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder. The series is made up of ten episodes, with the first two set to premiere on Friday, June 5.

The story of Cape Fear has a long history, originally based on John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel The Executioners. The book was first adapted into a 1962 film starring Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum. In 1991, Scorsese directed a remake with Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange, and Robert De Niro. This new Apple TV+ version adds modern suspense and the deep psychological tension that fans expect.
The trailer itself has been praised for its gripping tone and careful pacing, offering suspense without revealing too much. At a time when many trailers feel familiar, this one stands out as a masterful teaser.
This series could be a standout on Apple TV+ if it delivers on the tension and performances promised. Adams, Bardem, and Wilson are all strong actors, and with the creative team behind it, this remake could be a chilling update to a classic story.
