Amy Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, have announced that they are divorcing after seven years of marriage. The couple, who share a son named Gene, made the announcement on December 12.

In an Instagram post, Schumer emphasized that their split is amicable and that they remain focused on co-parenting their child.

“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer wrote. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. blah blah blah not becisse I dropped some lbs… Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”

The post also addressed recent speculation linking her dramatic weight loss to the end of her marriage. Schumer revealed that she had been diagnosed with Cushing syndrome in 2024, a condition that can cause extreme facial swelling. She added, “Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or [his] autism. Fingers crossed we can make it through. He’s the best.”

People reported that a source close to the couple described the divorce as smooth, saying, “there’s nothing ugly. It’s a cohesive split. They’ve just been finalizing a few things.”

Schumer and Fischer began dating in 2017 and married in February 2018. Their son, Gene, was born in May 2019. The announcement has drawn support from fans and friends alike, with celebrities including Debra Messing, Jillian Bell, Billie Lee, Carla Johnston, and Margo Price sharing messages of love and heart emojis for the actress.
