Andy Dick Reveals the Chilling Thing He Asked for Seconds After Being Revived From an Overdose
Andy Dick is once again making headlines after sharing a shocking story about a recent overdose and the strange thing he said the moment he woke up.
The comedian spoke about the incident during a guest appearance on the podcast Hate To Break It To Ya with host Jamie Kennedy. During the conversation, he described a scary afternoon that happened on a Hollywood sidewalk.
According to Dick, he had been smoking an unknown substance outside when he suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. People nearby realized something was wrong and rushed to help him.
He told Kennedy that a friend ran across the street to a CVS to buy Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. The drug was sprayed into his nose, and it worked quickly. When he woke up, instead of having a deep or emotional reaction, he shocked everyone with his first words.

Dick admitted that getting a drink was the first thing on his mind after being revived. The story surprised listeners but also felt familiar to fans who know about his long struggles with addiction.

People close to the actor have said he has often drunk heavily for years. He shared that he has been known to drink from the moment he wakes up until he passes out at night, sometimes finishing more than a fifth of vodka in a single day.
This overdose became another wake-up call. As of early 2026, Dick said he completed 50 days in a professional rehab facility and now lives in a sober-living home. He is trying to focus on recovery and take things day by day.
Even with all the personal struggles, many fans still remember his long comedy career. He first gained attention in the early 1990s as a cast member on The Ben Stiller Show. His biggest role came later when he played the awkward reporter Matthew Brock on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio.
He also starred in the ABC series Less Than Perfect as Owen Kronsky, which ran for four seasons. Over the years he built a large list of movie roles and voice acting work. He voiced Nuka in The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride and Boingo in the animated movie Hoodwinked!.
Dick also appeared in live-action comedies like Road Trip, Dude, Where’s My Car?, and Zoolander, often working alongside big comedy names such as Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Ferrell.
Despite legal troubles and health scares, he continues to work. He recently filmed a role in an independent project called T Bird and still appears on podcasts and small comedy shows.
His recovery is still in the early stages, and only time will tell if this moment leads to lasting change. For now, the comedian says he is taking life one day at a time while trying to stay sober.
