The multiverse has turned nearly every old Marvel hero into a possible comeback story. Fans have spent years imagining which actors might pull the old suit out of storage, and few names come up more often than Ben Affleck. His take on Matt Murdock is one of the most debated superhero performances of the early 2000s.

Affleck starred in the 2003 film ‘Daredevil,’ directed by Mark Steven Johnson, with Jennifer Garner as Elektra and Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin. The movie was not well received at the time, and Affleck himself has been candid about its shortcomings. He has said the story was interesting but that it came before Kevin Feige took over running Marvel.

That history is exactly why his latest comment has fans talking. Asked in an interview with Josh Horowitz whether Feige has approached him about returning as Daredevil in the MCU, Affleck gave a short and revealing answer. He said Feige hasn’t, and that he wishes he would.

The reply is brief, but it says a lot. For years, Affleck’s public comments on the character have been lighthearted and self-aware, with plenty of praise for what Marvel has built. Now he’s openly signaling that he would welcome the call.

It also fits a pattern. Affleck has called Feige one of the most successful producers who ever lived, and he has credited him with bringing clarity and purpose to Marvel’s storytelling. Feige was a co-producer on the 2003 film, though he had little influence at that point.

The MCU already has a Daredevil, of course. Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock in ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ which premiered in March 2025 and returned for a second season from March to May 2026. Critics said the second season was an improvement, even though viewership reportedly fell to about half of the first.

Season three is already in production, and Marvel has said Cox’s Daredevil will return again later this year ahead of it. Cox has also said it would be cool to cross over with Affleck’s version in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ That said, there’s no sign of such a meeting being planned.

Affleck has been supportive of his successor. While promoting ‘The Accountant 2,’ he said he hadn’t seen ‘Born Again’ yet but loved the character and wished Cox the best. He also joked that he wouldn’t tangle with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.

Rumors about Affleck and Marvel have circulated for years. In late 2022, an insider claimed he was in talks to join the MCU in an unspecified role, and other reports suggested Marvel had once approached him about a Daredevil cameo. None of those claims was ever confirmed.

Affleck’s connection to the superhero genre has also been complicated. He later played Batman across several DC films and has spoken about how draining that experience was. That history makes his openness to a Marvel return notable, even if it’s still just a wish.

The timing could work in the fans’ favor. Marvel’s multiverse storyline is heading toward ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ on December 18, followed by ‘Secret Wars,’ and the studio has been bringing back legacy heroes in creative ways. A crossover between two Daredevils would fit that approach.

It would also carry a bit of poetic payoff. Affleck’s film was long seen as a misfire, and a cameo in the MCU could give the version of the character a kind of redemption. For many fans, it would be a nostalgic nod to an earlier era of superhero movies.

For now, nothing is official, and Affleck’s comment reflects interest rather than a deal. Still, it’s the clearest sign yet that he would say yes if Marvel asked. Whether Feige makes that call remains to be seen.

Would you want Ben Affleck to return as Daredevil in the MCU?
