Anna Faris has revealed that a joke about First Lady Melania Trump was cut from Scary Movie 6, even though it was originally part of her character Cindy Campbell’s storyline.

The information comes from an interview Faris gave to Variety, where she discussed early drafts of the film and how some scenes changed during production. According to her, the joke was written as part of a chaotic storyline for Cindy, but it never made it into the final version of the movie.

Faris explained that she wanted her character to go in a more extreme and unpredictable direction in the new film. She said, “I was always pushing for Cindy to be classic MAGA rabbit hole,” adding that she imagined the character as someone who gets caught up in extreme and messy situations during the story.

She also described one specific scene that was filmed but later removed. In it, Cindy is drunk in her truck and looks into the rearview mirror. Faris said she delivers the line, “Be best, Cindy Campbell. Be best.” The line was a direct reference to Melania Trump’s well-known “Be Best” campaign slogan.

Even though the scene was shot, it did not appear in the final cut of the movie. Faris said, “That didn’t make it, but I liked my little winking there.” She made it clear that she understood the decision and did not see it as a major issue.

According to TMZ, the removal of the joke was not linked to politics. Sources told the outlet that the scene was one of several that were cut during editing, and the decision was made mainly for pacing reasons rather than content concerns.

Faris also spoke about the overall tone of Scary Movie 6, saying the franchise continues to embrace offensive and exaggerated humor. She said, “I’m in a movie that is truly the most offensive movie ever made, and I’m the lead of it. And I participate in offensive ideas. I think I can kind of do anything. It liberated me.”

Her return to the franchise is also notable. She did not appear in Scary Movie 5, but she is back for the sixth installment, which has recently been released. The film reunites her with returning cast members including Marlon Wayans, Regina Hall, and Shawn Wayans, bringing back several familiar faces from the original era of the series.

The Scary Movie franchise itself has a long and complicated history. As reported in Variety and other entertainment outlets, the Wayans family originally created the series but later left following disputes over deals and studio control after the early films. Marlon Wayans has previously spoken about disagreements involving royalties and studio decisions during that period.

Despite that history, the franchise has now returned in a new form. Marlon Wayans has said in earlier interviews that the latest project is meant as a reboot and a return to the original spirit of the series, with the involvement of his brothers Shawn and Keenen Wayans helping bring the team back together.

For now, the cut Melania Trump joke remains one of several deleted ideas from Scary Movie 6, showing how even finished comedies often go through many changes before reaching audiences.
