Anne Hathaway is getting attention again after new promo images from her upcoming film Mother Mary were released. The images, shared as part of early promotion for the film, shows Hathaway in a bold and striking look that fits the tone of the project.

In the photo, Hathaway stands on what looks like a stage. She is wearing a dark, sparkling bodysuit with a deep neckline and detailed design across the front. The outfit is paired with sheer tights and high-heeled lace-up boots.

A long, light fabric train flows behind her, adding movement to the look. She also wears a large gold halo-style headpiece that frames her head, giving her an almost angel-like appearance. In one hand, she holds a microphone, suggesting her character’s connection to music and performance.

The film is directed by David Lowery and is described as a psychological drama-thriller. According to production details, the story centers on a complicated and intense relationship between a pop star named Mary and a fashion designer named Sam. Their connection begins again when Mary needs a special outfit for her tour.

Alongside Hathaway, the cast includes Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, and FKA Twigs, along with several other actors. The project was first announced in 2023, and filming took place in Germany. Production continued even during the 2023 actors’ strike after receiving special approval. Hathaway later confirmed that filming wrapped in mid-2024.

Music will play a big role in the film. The score is by Daniel Hart, while original songs were created by Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX. Hathaway herself performs songs in the film, and one of the tracks, “Burial,” has already been released as part of the upcoming soundtrack.

The movie will be released by A24. It is set to open in limited theaters in the United States on April 17, before expanding nationwide on April 24.

This first look gives a clear idea of the film’s style. It looks bold, dramatic, and focused on performance and identity. Hathaway’s appearance in the image stands out and shows she is taking on a very different kind of role.

This film looks interesting mainly because it mixes music, fashion, and drama in one story. Hathaway’s look alone is enough to get people talking, and it seems like she is trying something new again. What do you think about this new look and the film’s concept? Share your thoughts in the comments.
