Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt Reunite in First ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Trailer, 20 Years Later
The fashion world is officially back. A full trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has now been released, giving fans their first real look at what life is like for Miranda Priestly and her inner circle nearly 20 years later. The trailer was released online and clips are now circulating on YouTube and social media, with more details coming from a new interview with Vogue.
The preview opens with a familiar setup. Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs reunites with her former Runway coworker Emily, played by Emily Blunt. The two meet again after years apart, and it’s clear that time has changed some things but not everything. Emily sizes Andy up quickly and delivers a sharp line in classic Devil Wears Prada style. You’ve changed. You’re much more confident, she says, before adding, You kept those eyebrows, though, didn’t you?
The trailer also includes brief shots of Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly and Stanley Tucci’s Nigel, including scenes set around the Met Gala. The tone mixes nostalgia with tension, hinting that old power dynamics are about to clash with a very different fashion and media world.

Ahead of the trailer’s release, Streep, Hathaway, Blunt and Tucci spoke with Vogue about returning to the story. Streep compared the experience to rediscovering something personal. It was like going into the back of your own closet and finding something, thinking, Oh, I wonder if this still fits? she said.
Blunt described the return as emotional but also very easy for her. It felt a lot like coming home, she said. She also joked about slipping back into Emily’s sharp-edged personality. This character seems to be the glove that fits rather too easily for me. She’s a lunatic. Maybe I should question myself on that.
Both Streep and Blunt talked about how intense the fan reaction was during filming in New York last summer. According to the Vogue interview, crowds gathered on the streets, and photos and videos from the set spread quickly online.
Blunt said the attention reflects how much the world has changed since the first movie. All of this attention and obsession with the quick consumption of this movie before it’s even out is emblematic of how our industry and our lives have changed, she said, adding that the cast often stayed in sweatpants until the cameras rolled.
Streep said she was shocked by the excitement. It felt jubilant, she recalled. When we shot on Sixth Avenue 20 years ago, nobody was interested. This time I stepped out and just heard this roar. She said the reaction was even bigger during scenes meant to resemble the Met Gala, with fans dressing up as Miranda Priestly. Honestly, it really threw me.
Vogue also shared new details about the film’s fashion, hair and makeup. The sequel picks up in 2026, with Miranda struggling to keep Runway alive in a world where print media is no longer king. Emily is now a powerful executive at a luxury brand, putting her directly at odds with her former boss. Andy returns to Runway after years spent traveling as a reporter, a change that shapes her style.
Costume designer Molly Rogers explained Andy’s new look in the Vogue piece. You see her come back to Runway and she’s figuring herself out again, Rogers said, noting that Andy’s wardrobe leans toward menswear, vintage pieces and a more lived-in New York style.
Hathaway added that Andy’s fashion evolution is part of the story. We had to explain how somebody working as a writer could have a fabulous wardrobe, she said. Hathaway explained that Andy spent years doing investigative journalism and shopping secondhand, which makes her return to Runway and its famous closet moment feel earned.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters on May 1 through Disney’s 20th Century Studios. Alongside Streep, Hathaway, Blunt and Tucci, the cast includes Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet. Director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna both return, continuing the story based on Lauren Weisberger’s original novel and its later sequel.
Nearly two decades later, the film is leaning into change, pressure and unfinished business, while still promising the sharp humor and fashion drama fans expect.
