‘Apocalypto’ Star Taken Into Custody in Shocking Felony Drug Arrest
Rudy Youngblood, best known for starring in Mel Gibson’s 2006 film Apocalypto, is once again making headlines, this time for legal trouble in Texas. According to police records and court documents, the actor was arrested Thursday after a routine traffic stop turned into something more serious.
Authorities say Youngblood was pulled over for speeding in Henderson County. When officers checked his information, they found an active felony warrant out of Bell County. He was taken into custody on the spot and booked into the Henderson County jail. Brownsboro Police Chief Scott Myntti confirmed the arrest and said the actor was cooperative during the stop.
The warrant is tied to an incident from October at a boat ramp, where Youngblood had previously been detained on a separate warrant connected to an alleged assault involving a household member. During that earlier encounter, police reported finding a small bag with a suspicious substance, along with a scale, a glass pipe, and a straw. At the time, Youngblood was released while the material was sent to a lab for testing.
Court records now show that the substance was confirmed to be methamphetamine. After the lab results came back, prosecutors filed a felony drug charge earlier this week. That charge led directly to the warrant that resulted in his arrest one day later.
Youngblood is now facing a felony count for possession of a controlled substance between one and four grams. Under Texas law, that charge carries a possible sentence of up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 if he is convicted. As of Friday morning, jail records show that he remains in custody, and officials have not yet announced when a bail hearing might take place.
This is not the first time the actor has dealt with legal issues. In 2017, he was arrested in Miami for disorderly intoxication, although those charges were later dropped. The recent arrest adds to growing concerns from fans who have followed his career since his breakout role nearly two decades ago.
Youngblood rose to international attention for playing Jaguar Paw in Apocalypto, a role that earned him praise for bringing intensity and emotion to the Maya-language epic. Since then, he has continued working, mostly in independent films and genre projects, including recent appearances in horror and drama titles.
