Marvel has turned a simple timer into one of the most closely watched corners of the internet. The ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ countdown launched as a nonstop YouTube livestream called “DOOMSDAY CLOCK” right after the studio released its fourth teaser. It shows the Avengers logo, the phrase “Doomsday Is Coming” and a clock counting down to the release.

Fans were skeptical at first, and some in the chat wondered whether Marvel would really leave it running for nearly a year. It did, and the stream has since become a source of clues, with viewers refreshing it daily in search of the smallest sign of movement. At one point, more than 31,000 fans were watching the stream at the same time.

The clock has now changed again. The latest version shows a hooded Doctor Doom in silhouette against a glowing green stained-glass backdrop, with a Las Vegas skyline behind him and the words “Las Vegas” across the image. Additional details related to Sao Paolo and Gold Coast also appeared.

The timer in the new view reads roughly 1 month and 12 days, which lines up with the December release.

Marvel has not said what the new image means. The film’s first full trailer did debut at CinemaCon in Las Vegas in April, but no connection between that event and the new background has been confirmed.

The stream has a track record of lining up with real announcements. Before the first trailer arrived, the numbers switched color only minutes ahead of the release. On August 14, the background was swapped to show Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, the same image used on the film’s new poster, and additional tickets went on sale at the same time.

More recently, the clock appeared to glitch every 10 seconds or so, just after MLB and Marvel announced a special look at the film during Game 1 of the World Series. Snippets of dialogue from Sue Storm have also played over the live countdown, which fed theories that new footage was close. It has also been widely reported that the story could include an in-universe countdown to a final Incursion, which would give the real-world clock extra meaning.

Nothing has been confirmed, but there is plenty of chatter. Unconfirmed insider reports suggest that a new trailer could arrive in mid-November, possibly between November 10 and November 25. If that happens, it would follow 4 teaser trailers and 2 full trailers released so far, plus the World Series sneak peek.

The studio is also ramping up its wider campaign. Dunkin’ began its Doctor Doom-themed menu and collectibles on November 4, and Dave & Buster’s will be renamed Doom & Buster’s from November 16 through January 31, 2027, with themed Doomsday Zones and games. Disney+ has also built a “Countdown to Doomsday” collection of 15 movies and shows to watch before the film.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026, and it marks the return of directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo to the MCU. Downey stars as Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, the villain heroes from 3 universes must face. Marvel’s official description promises that universes will collide as the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter.

The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright and Simu Liu, along with X-Men stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer and Alan Cumming. Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers for the first time since ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

The second trailer, released at D23, put Doom’s history front and center. In it, Sue Storm describes Victor as someone she once knew well, before the heroes gather to face him. It also showed Thor, Shuri, Shang-Chi and others standing together against him.

The Fantastic Four’s credits scene in 2025’s ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ suggested that Doom had kidnapped Franklin Richards, the child of Sue Storm and Reed Richards. A follow-up film, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, is set for December 17, 2027.
