Marvel’s marketing machine has never met a snack aisle it didn’t want to conquer, and this year’s promotional blitz for its next big crossover event might be its most ambitious yet. From cookies to candy, the studio has spent months turning grocery store shelves into an extension of its release campaign, and the latest addition takes that strategy in an unexpectedly playful direction.

That campaign has already included a Marvel-themed Oreo collaboration featuring a color-changing creme filling tied to Doctor Doom, alongside a separate global partnership with M&M’s launching across 65 markets. Both tie-ins reflect just how aggressively Marvel is leaning into consumer products ahead of December’s release, treating snack packaging as one more surface to build hype.

Now Cheetos has joined that lineup with its own themed collaboration, giving fans a first look at packaging built around three of the film’s key characters. According to newly shared images, the collab reimagines Doctor Doom as a Salted Toffee flavor, Mystique as Cheese & Ketchup, and Ant-Man as a straightforward Ketchup variety, each character’s design wrapped around the corresponding bag.

The character choices track closely with the film’s confirmed roster of heroes and villains. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Victor von Doom, the film’s central antagonist, while Rebecca Romijn reprises her role as Mystique in what marketing materials have already described as a comic-accurate costume overhaul, and Paul Rudd returns as Scott Lang’s Ant-Man alongside the film’s massive returning ensemble.

Judging by the flavor combinations and packaging style, the collaboration appears aimed at international markets rather than a U.S. release, following a pattern common among Marvel’s overseas snack partnerships, which frequently offer flavor profiles distinct from what’s typically available domestically. Cheese & Ketchup and Salted Toffee variants, in particular, are combinations far more familiar to European snack aisles than American ones.

This latest reveal fits into a much larger pattern of promotional rollout for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ which has already included extensive merchandising through Hasbro action figures, LEGO sets and detailed costume reveals for several of the film’s major villains. The sheer scope of that campaign mirrors the scale of the film itself, which brings together heroes and villains from across the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men for what’s being billed as one of the MCU’s largest crossover events to date.

With Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and dozens of other returning stars anchoring the cast, and the Russo brothers back in the director’s chair after their work on ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ anticipation for the film has only continued building throughout the year. Snack tie-ins like this Cheetos partnership, however unconventional the flavor pairings might seem, are clearly designed to keep that momentum visible in everyday spaces well beyond trailers and posters.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters worldwide on December 18, giving Marvel’s marketing team several more months to keep rolling out unexpected partnerships before the film’s release.
