‘Avengers: Doomsday’ To See Another Spider-Man Actor Return, Rumors Claim
Rumors are circulating that Tobey Maguire could be returning as Spider-Man in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman claims the actor will reprise his role, though neither Maguire nor Marvel Studios has confirmed it yet.
It’s unclear how big Maguire’s part will be. He could appear in a short cameo, or he might have a larger role. Given how popular his version of Spider-Man is outside the current MCU, it makes sense that the filmmakers would give him plenty of screen time if he appears.

Fans are also wondering whether Tom Holland or Andrew Garfield will be involved in the film. Holland is still filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which could affect his availability, while there’s no news about Garfield’s involvement yet.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be the fifth Avengers film and the 39th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
It brings together a huge cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr. In the story, the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the X-Men team up to face Doctor Doom, played by Downey.
The movie went through several production changes. It was originally part of a two-film plan with The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Destin Daniel Cretton was set to direct The Kang Dynasty, and Jonathan Majors was supposed to return as Kang the Conqueror. Jeff Loveness joined as a writer, but Cretton left in 2023, Waldron replaced Loveness, and Majors was removed due to legal issues. The Russo brothers returned as directors, McFeely joined as co-writer, and the movie was renamed Doomsday. Filming started in April at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional locations in England and Bahrain, and wrapped in September.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on December 18, 2026, with its sequel, Secret Wars, coming on December 17, 2027.
