‘Avengers: Doomsday’s’ New Theater PSA Is Already Playing Before Endgame Encore, Here’s What’s in It

Marvel Studios has never been shy about turning even the smallest pre-show moments into marketing opportunities, and its return to theaters this month is proving that once again. With ‘Avengers: Endgame’ back on the big screen as ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore,’ the studio is using every available minute before the film starts to build hype for what comes next.

That re-release, which began September 25, isn’t just a straightforward theatrical rerun. Marvel added four brand-new scenes shot during production on ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ turning ‘Endgame Encore’ into a direct narrative bridge between the two films, with director Joe Russo calling it “required viewing” ahead of December’s release.

Now audiences heading into theaters for ‘Endgame Encore’ are getting an extra treat before the movie even begins. Footage circulating online shows theaters now playing a ‘Doomsday’-themed “Silence Your Phones” PSA ahead of screenings, featuring the film’s ensemble of heroes gathered together before the message flashes on screen asking audiences to quiet their devices, all set to the classic Avengers theme.

This isn’t the first time Marvel has used a pre-show PSA to generate buzz for an upcoming release. The studio previously did something similar with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ in 2024, when Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s characters delivered a raunchy, R-rated theater etiquette reminder that became a viral moment of its own ahead of that film’s release.

This time around, the approach leans into ‘Doomsday’s’ massive ensemble rather than comedic shock value, giving audiences their first extended look at the heroes assembled together before the film’s December debut. Given how effective the format proved with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ it’s a smart way for Marvel to keep ‘Doomsday’ fresh in moviegoers’ minds every time they sit down for another ‘Endgame Encore’ screening over the coming weeks.

The PSA isn’t the only extra audiences are getting. Depending on the format, ‘Endgame Encore’ runs longer than the original film, with standard screenings including roughly two additional minutes, while select IMAX and Infinity Vision presentations run about five minutes longer and include an expanded look at ‘Doomsday’ footage. Marvel has also confirmed that guests seeing the film in RealD 3D at participating 4DX Regal locations on opening night can receive a limited-edition, foil-embossed mini poster while supplies last.

Some fans have noted that the pre-show PSA and pre-credits sneak peek have ended up being talked about just as much as the four new in-film scenes themselves, a reaction that speaks to how much anticipation is already built into every piece of ‘Doomsday’ marketing at this point. With plot leaks having circulated online in the days leading up to the re-release, some viewers may already have a sense of what’s coming, tempering expectations slightly heading into theaters.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ brings together heroes from three distinct universes, including the Avengers and New Avengers of Earth-616, the Fantastic Four of Earth-828, and a separate universe’s X-Men, all converging to face Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. With a cast this massive and stakes this high, Marvel clearly sees every touchpoint, even a 20-second phone reminder, as an opportunity to keep the conversation going before the film’s December 18 release.

Whether or not these pre-show additions turn out to be the most memorable part of the ‘Endgame Encore’ experience, they’ve certainly succeeded in getting people talking online.
