Season 5 will consist of eight episodes in total, and it will dive into the tumultuous events of February 1933. Production has since come and gone, with the creative team confirming the shoot has wrapped and the finished season is now headed toward audiences.

Season 5 premieres in Germany on September 10, 2026, followed by a North American premiere in February 2027 exclusively on MHz Choice. All eight episodes of the hit German drama’s final season will stream in the United States and Canada that month.

The first three seasons were added to MHz Choice in spring 2024, ahead of the exclusive North American premiere of Season 4 in July 2024, and the platform has since become the home for the series throughout the region. Season 5 is based on Kutscher’s novel ‘The March Fallen’ and will end in 1933, the year Hitler finally took power. The new season takes place as Adolf Hitler becomes Reich Chancellor and the Weimar Republic is on the brink of collapse, with new elections set for March 5 meant to give the National Socialist German Workers Party complete power.

A report describing the final arc noted it spans the last days of the republic, from February 1933, just after Hitler was appointed Reich Chancellor, through March 5, when, following a violent and murderous campaign against his political opponents, he held elections that would secure his absolute power. The very first season alone garnered a 94 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes to go with a staggering 100 percent critics score.
