Becky Climbs Again: Grace Caroline Currey Returns for the ‘Fall’ Trilogy Finale
A fear-of-heights thriller isn’t supposed to become a franchise, yet ‘Fall‘ managed it on a shoestring. The question hanging over the series lately has been whether Grace Caroline Currey, the face of the original movie, would ever climb again.
The 2022 film followed best friends Becky and Hunter, who get stranded at the top of a 2,000-foot radio tower. It was made for $3 million and grossed roughly $21 million worldwide, and Currey and co-star Virginia Gardner chose to perform their own stunts. Capstone Studios later greenlit 2 sequels, with Scott Mann set to co-write and direct the third.
Then came ‘Fall 2: Deadpoint,’ which hit theaters on September 2 under directors Peter and Michael Spierig. It moved the action to Thailand’s Mount Kwan with a new lead cast of Harriet Slater, Arsema Thomas and Tom Brittney. The theatrical results were rough, and the future of the series looked less certain.
That is the backdrop for the latest news: Currey will return to lead ‘Fall 3,’ with filming planned for 2027. Dread Central exclusively reported the casting and noted that the franchise is moving forward by bringing back the star who helped make the first movie work. Mann, the original director, is also returning to helm the film.
According to Dread Central, the screenplay for the third film is ready. It cites a newly published interview with Mann in The Hollywood News, in which he discussed writing the second and third films back-to-back with co-writer Jonathan Frank. That approach suggests the trilogy was always planned as one connected story.
iHorror also reports that both sequels were greenlit as a pair, which fits that picture. It notes that the Spierig Brothers pitched the setup of this structure, and that Currey’s return gives the trilogy a throughline that ‘Deadpoint’ lacked. Mann has also stayed on as a producer and co-writer throughout.

‘Deadpoint’ opened to $2.3 million across 1,704 theaters, then climbed to roughly $5 million in the U.S. Its international total pushed the worldwide figure to around $25.7 million, according to The Numbers. It also earned a B- CinemaScore, a notch below the original’s B.
Critics were divided, too. The sequel sits at roughly 57% on Rotten Tomatoes from 30 reviews, with some praising the vertigo-inducing photography and others calling the story predictable. One review argued that the film’s setup was harder to swallow a second time.
The sequel arrived on digital on October 6, but bringing back Currey and Mann is a clear attempt to refocus on what worked. Mann has also said he intends to personally direct the third movie, which will give the finale a sense of authorship. That consistency could matter to fans who loved how tense and stripped-down the first movie was.

For now, details are thin. There’s no release date, no plot synopsis and no word on whether other members of the original cast, such as Gardner, will appear. Dread Central only confirmed that Currey is returning and that the movie is preparing to shoot next year.
Currey has said in the past that ‘Fall’ was the most challenging project she had ever worked on. That makes her willingness to return to the world of Becky all the more notable. Whether the finale can recapture the magic of the original is the big question.
Fans of the original now have a reason to feel hopeful again, even after a disappointing sequel. The third film gets to finish Becky’s story and prove the franchise still has something fresh to say. It’s a high-wire act, but ‘Fall’ has always been at its best when the stakes are high.
