Benedict Cumberbatch Teases His Marvel Comeback in Classic Doctor Strange Style
Benedict Cumberbatch is opening up again about his place in the Marvel universe, and this time he is giving fans a clear hint that Doctor Strange is not done yet.
Although he avoided sharing specific plans, he explained that he “has more than a sense” of what lies ahead for him at Marvel. He also said that audiences “definitely will” see the character again. These comments mark one of the strongest signals in a long time that Doctor Strange’s story is far from over.
Cumberbatch has stayed involved with Marvel through smaller appearances, including voicing the sorcerer in the animated series What If…?, but many fans are expecting his next major return to happen in a movie.
Marvel has several large projects on the way, such as Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday in 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. Reports suggest he is not part of Doomsday, but there has been heavy talk online about him appearing in Secret Wars. Since that film is expected to end the Multiverse Saga, the idea of Doctor Strange taking on a major role fits where Marvel is heading.
There is also movement toward another solo film for the character. Back in January, Cumberbatch mentioned that he was preparing for a third Doctor Strange movie. He spoke well of Marvel Studios, saying the company had talked with him about which director and writer he would like for the film and what comic book ideas he wanted to include. This came from interviews at the start of that year.
