Anticipation for the ‘Black Clover’ second episode is building before the new season has even started. The series has been on hiatus since episode 170, which came out in 2021, and fans have waited years to see the Magic Knights again. Now that the comeback is days away, the next question is how soon the follow-up arrives.

Whether you plan to binge or follow along weekly, you will want the schedule sorted early. Here is everything we know about when the ‘Black Clover’ second episode drops, how to watch it, and what the early previews suggest.

When the Second Episode Release Date Lands

The new season has a firm starting point. Studio Pierrot and Shueisha officially announced on September 3 that the season would premiere on October 3. That date is a Saturday, which matters for working out what comes next.

New episodes are expected to release weekly on Saturdays. Counting forward from the premiere, that places the second episode on October 10, though no outlet has published a standalone confirmation of that exact date.

Keep in mind that the schedule is built around Japanese broadcast dates. The October 3 premiere is set for 11 p.m. in Japan, so viewers in other regions may see the date shift depending on their time zone.

Release Time for ‘Black Clover’ Fans Worldwide

The exact time is the part fans keep asking about, and the honest answer is that it is still unsettled. Crunchyroll’s lineup confirmation says the subtitled stream will arrive as episodes air in Japan, but the exact time has not been announced. The dubbed version has no confirmed airtime either.

Some outlets have offered educated guesses. GamesRadar anticipates a release slot of around 11:30 PM Eastern after the Japanese airing, but it admits that is unconfirmed. Treat that as speculation until Crunchyroll says otherwise.

Other guides have tried converting the Japanese broadcast into local times. One such guide stresses that its regional estimates are not an official global release time and that actual availability can vary. The safest move is to check the Crunchyroll app on the day itself.

Where to Watch the New Season?

Crunchyroll is the clear streaming home for the series. The season will be available to stream on Crunchyroll starting October 3. An active subscription is needed, and the platform carries the show in most regions worldwide, excluding Japan.

Japanese viewers have a different route. The season airs on TV Tokyo and other Japanese stations, so domestic fans can catch it on regular television.

The service also gave North American fans a head start. Crunchyroll hosted an early screening for North America earlier this month. That event stirred up plenty of buzz ahead of the weekly rollout.

What the Season Looks Like so Far

Official details for the second installment are still thin, since no synopsis or title for it has surfaced yet. What we do have is a clear picture of how the season opens, which hints at where the story heads next. The first episode is titled “War Begins,” and its synopsis and preview images are already public.

The story does not waste time. The season picks up immediately after the end of the first season from five years ago. The opening synopsis confirms the focus is on Yami’s rescue, which sets up a tense follow-up episode.

This also marks a return to a fan favorite storyline. The season resumes the Spade Kingdom Raid arc, which is one of the best loved arcs among fans. That context makes the second episode feel like a continuation of high stakes rather than a slow reintroduction.

The creative team adds to the confidence. Ayataka Tanemura, who directed ‘Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King,’ is directing the season for Studio Pierrot. The opening song comes from the rock band WANIMA, giving the revival its own musical identity.

One open question is how long the ride will last. Weekly Shonen Jump reportedly confirmed a 24 episode season, according to trade coverage. However, other reports put the count at around 26 episodes, so the final number is worth watching. The first part is expected to wrap up around January, which leaves plenty of weeks for the Spade Kingdom fight to unfold.

For now, all eyes are on the premiere and the Saturday that follows it. After years of waiting, are you hoping the second episode keeps the rescue of Yami at the center, or would you rather see the Black Bulls branch out across the war right away?
