‘Boots’ Drops Teaser for Heartfelt Coming-of-Age Story, Premiering This October
Netflix has dropped the first teaser for its new series Boots, which hits the platform on October 9. The show is based on The Pink Marine, a memoir by former U.S. Marine Greg Cope White, and it brings a mix of humor and drama to a classic coming-of-age story.
Miles Heizer, known for 13 Reasons Why and Parenthood, takes on the lead role as Cameron Cope, a young man who feels lost and hides that he’s gay. He signs up for the Marines with his best friend Ray McAffey, played by Liam Oh.
Ray comes from a military family and lives under the weight of his father’s expectations. At boot camp, both of them face challenges that shake their sense of who they are and where they belong.

Cameron’s home life also plays a big role in the story. His mother, Barbara, played by Vera Farmiga, is unpredictable and self-centered. When Cameron leaves for training, she struggles to deal with her son’s absence.
The series isn’t just about recruits. Max Parker joins the cast as Sgt. Sullivan, a decorated Marine who tries to guide Cameron while hiding his own secrets. The cast also features Cedrick Cooper, Ana Ayora, Dominic Goodman, Angus O’Brien, Kieron Moore, Rico Paris, Zach Roerig, Johnathan Nieves, Brett Dalton, and many others.
Boots is created by Andy Parker and Jennifer Cecil, with Norman Lear serving as executive producer along with Brent Miller, Rachel Davidson, Scott Hornbacher, and Peter Hoar, who also directed episodes.
The teaser shows the tone of the series, sharp, funny, and emotional, while giving viewers a glimpse into life inside the 1990s Marine Corps, when being openly gay was still banned.
Boots officially arrives on Netflix on October 9.
