Brad Pitt Reprises Cliff Booth in First Behind-the-Scenes Look at ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2’
Brad Pitt is returning as Cliff Booth, and fans have finally gotten a first look at him on the set of The Adventures of Cliff Booth. This movie is a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and it’s written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher. The story now takes place in 1977, about eight years after the events of the first film.
New behind-the-scenes photos of Pitt have started popping up online. He’s seen on set, once again playing the chill and cool Cliff Booth.
Even without a full costume, the character’s vibe is still there. He won’t be alone this time, he’s joined by a strong cast, including Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena, and Corey Fogelmanis.
The new movie shows a different side of Cliff. Now, he works as a fixer in Hollywood, someone who quietly solves problems on big productions. This idea didn’t come out of nowhere. Back in 2021, Tarantino had said he wanted to dive into Cliff’s backstory, especially his time as a prisoner of war during World War II. “Someday I’ll do his adventure in the POW camp,” Tarantino had said. But that idea later turned into this new film.
Originally, Tarantino had a different project in mind. In 2024, he was reportedly working on a film called The Movie Critic, but that idea changed over time. According to Deadline and other sources, Netflix bought the updated script, and that’s when David Fincher got on board as the director. Brad Pitt was already set to return as Cliff. There were also rumors that Leonardo DiCaprio might show up again as Rick Dalton, but that still hasn’t been confirmed.
As for the cast, it started coming together in 2025. First came Elizabeth Debicki, then Scott Caan. By June, names like Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, and Holt McCallany joined in. A month later, JB Tadena and Corey Fogelmanis were added too. Somewhere during this process, the title was trimmed down from The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth to just The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
Filming kicked off on July 28, 2025, in California. The plan is to finish shooting in early 2026. With such big names involved and Tarantino still shaping the story, people are expecting something special from this sequel.
We still don’t know much about the full plot. But based on what’s been shared so far—and the stylish early photos, there’s clearly more to tell about Cliff Booth’s wild Hollywood life.
