Brad Pitt Tried to Spend $120,000 for an Evening with Emilia Clarke

Back in January 2018, Brad Pitt made headlines for bidding $120,000 (£90,000) for a very special charity experience with Emilia Clarke.

The “Fight Club” actor wasn’t looking for a romantic date. Instead, the auction offered the chance to watch an episode of Game of Thrones with Clarke herself, who played Daenerys Targaryen. The event was part of Sean Penn’s annual Haiti fundraiser in Los Angeles, held at Milk Studios, supporting J/P HRO and disaster relief efforts.

The bidding for the night reportedly began at $20,000 (£15,100). Pitt initially offered $80,000 (£60,500) before raising it to $120,000. However, he was ultimately outbid by an anonymous gala attendee who paid $160,000 (£121,000) for the experience.

Clarke later spoke about the event on The Graham Norton Show, hinting at her playful disappointment that Pitt didn’t win. “There was an auction for a charity do that I was asked to take part in so I offered time with myself and as the bidding started I realised Brad Pitt was trying to buy me,” she explained.

“I looked across the room and he had his paddle up! Sadly, he was outbid and it didn’t work out.”

The gala was star-studded, with attendees including Clarke’s Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harington, Jeff Bezos, Leonardo DiCaprio, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lena Dunham, and others. Jon Snow himself, Harington, reportedly offered to be involved in the Game of Thrones experience with Clarke, adding to the excitement.

The charity event raised millions for Haitian relief efforts. Leonardo DiCaprio also got involved in the art auction portion of the night, bidding on a painting by Josh Smith. Interestingly, DiCaprio initially bid $80,000, but Pitt ended up paying $90,000 (£68,000) to secure the piece. However, a second painting allowed both stars to leave with artwork from the night.

Even though Pitt didn’t win the chance to watch Game of Thrones with Clarke, the auction highlighted how high-profile stars are willing to use their fame and resources to support charitable causes. It also created a fun, memorable moment that fans of both actors and the show still talk about today.
