Brad Pitt Walks Away from Adopted Sons After Reportedly Calling Relationship ‘Unfixable’
Brad Pitt’s family troubles are getting worse, and now his ties with two of his adopted sons seem completely broken.
According to the Daily Mail, Pitt has given up on trying to fix things with Maddox, 23, and Pax, 21. The actor now sees his relationship with both of them as beyond repair. A source told the outlet, “He has zero concern with what Pax does or doesn’t do. [Pax’s] actions reflect who he is. Brad honestly considers his relationship with Pax unfixable.”
Pax has been at the center of some headlines recently. Just a few weeks ago, he was seen leaving a hotel looking out of it, with friends holding him up, before heading to the Deja Vu strip club in Hollywood. He stayed until nearly 2:30 in the morning.
This is only part of a much bigger story that has been building since Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s messy split back in 2016. Over the years, Maddox and Pax have both spoken out against their father. Maddox, who was adopted from Cambodia by Jolie before Pitt became his legal father, was once asked if his relationship with Pitt was over for good. He simply said, “Whatever happens, happens.”
Pax went even further. In a Father’s Day post in 2020, he called Pitt “a world class a**hole” and added, “You time and time again prove to be a terrible and despicable person. You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence. You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell.”
Sources close to Pitt blame Jolie for the way things turned out. One insider said, “Brad believes that whatever his kids are going through right now is a direct result of how they have been raised. They are now old enough to make their own choices and if their choices include drama that is all on them. Brad would be there to give advice, but he cannot be when he is unable to have a relationship with them at this time.”
But people close to Jolie say Pitt has no one to blame but himself. A source said, “Brad continues to play the victim. His fractured relationship with his children is a direct result of how he has treated them. He should stop blaming others. If he wants to rebuild a relationship with the kids, he should acknowledge his own actions and make amends.”
Even though Maddox and Pax are completely distant, Pitt hasn’t given up hope with his other children. His daughter Shiloh, 19, legally dropped his last name last year and now goes by Shiloh Nouvel Jolie. Three more kids, Zahara, 20, Vivienne, 16, and Knox, 16, are also said to go by Jolie instead of Pitt. Still, a source said, “Brad holds out hope that the others will one day come around. Time heals wounds.”
The strain is also tough on Pitt’s family back in Missouri. His father William, 84, along with their large extended family, used to spend vacations with the kids. A Pitt family insider said, “The Pitt family was hoping that after Brad and Angelina’s divorce was finalized the kids would come around and re-establish a relationship.”
They also pointed out that Jolie doesn’t have much extended family, while the Pitt side has dozens of cousins the children haven’t seen in years.
But despite their work and success, the family drama shows no signs of slowing down.
