“Bradley Cooper’s ‘Is This Thing On?’ Trailer Drops with Will Arnett & Laura Dern!
“Is This Thing On?” is an upcoming American comedy-drama that will hit theaters in December. The movie is directed by Bradley Cooper, who also co-wrote the script with Will Arnett and Mark Chappell. The story is loosely inspired by the life of British comedian John Bishop, according to reports.
The film stars Will Arnett as Alex Novak and Laura Dern as Tess Novak, a couple who have decided to end their marriage after many years together. The story follows them as they navigate the awkward phase of living separately while raising their two sons and keeping their friendships intact.
Along the way, Alex finds a new hobby and learns more about himself and his relationships. Bradley Cooper plays Balls, Alex’s best friend, while Andra Day is Christine, Balls’s wife. Other cast members include Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, and Ciarán Hinds. Sean Hayes plays Stephen, the newlywed husband of Geoffrey, who is played by Scott Icenogle—Hayes’ real-life husband.
The first trailer for the movie has already been released, and you can check it out here, giving audiences a glimpse of the humor and heartfelt moments in the film. “Is This Thing On?” had its world premiere as the closing film of the New York Film Festival on October 10, and it is set to be released in the United States on December 19. The movie will be distributed by Searchlight Pictures.
Early reviews are positive. On Rotten Tomatoes, 91% of 44 critics gave it a good rating. The site’s consensus reads, “Mining sly humor from its mature portrait of a failing marriage, Is This Thing On? is another terrific relationship study from Bradley Cooper and an ideal platform for Will Arnett’s dramatic chops.” Metacritic gave it a score of 74 out of 100 based on 18 reviews, which indicates “generally favorable” reviews.
