‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Unveils Gorgeous New-Look Images
Bridgerton is getting ready to return, and season 4 is shaping up to be one of the show’s most emotional chapters yet.
The new season will focus on Benedict Bridgerton and his unexpected love story with Sophie Baek. The information comes from an interview with showrunner Jess Brownell, shared with Entertainment Weekly, along with new first-look images.
The next season arrives on Netflix in two parts. The first episodes drop on January 29, with the rest following on February 26. This time, the spotlight moves to Benedict, played by Luke Thompson.
He meets Sophie, played by Yerin Ha, during a masked ball hosted by his mother. She appears as a mysterious woman dressed in silver, and that meeting quickly turns his life upside down.

Brownell says the story takes inspiration from a classic fairy tale but changes how it usually works. Sophie is not written as someone waiting to be saved. Instead, she is strong and determined, and she wants to shape her own future. Brownell told Entertainment Weekly that “we get to watch a very headstrong young woman try to decide her fate for herself and pick up the courage to dream for more.”
The season is based on Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer From a Gentleman. Brownell shared that this book was easier to adapt than others because it already fit well with TV storytelling. She explained that the story naturally brings drama and pressure, which helps push the romance forward. She added that fans of the book will recognize several key moments brought to life on screen.
Benedict’s journey also marks a big shift for his character. After years of drifting through life without settling down, he starts to feel empty. According to Brownell, that feeling grows stronger once he meets the masked woman at the ball. Their connection changes him, even though he does not fully understand it at first.
Entertainment Weekly also revealed images showing the pair sharing a quiet moment away from the crowd. Brownell said filming their scenes together felt special and praised the chemistry between the two actors. She described watching them perform as something that felt complete from the start, saying it was emotional and full of tension.
Family will play a big role this season as well. Brownell said the goal was to keep the Bridgerton siblings closely involved in Benedict’s story. Eloise, in particular, will help him search for the woman he cannot forget.

On Sophie’s side, the show explores her life below the stairs. She works for Araminta Gun and her daughters, who are not kind or easy to deal with. While these characters are harsh in the book, Brownell said the show looks deeper at why they act the way they do. She explained that the series avoids simple good-or-bad labels and instead focuses on emotional reasons behind people’s choices.
Season 4 also leans into the divide between high society and the servants who support it. Brownell said showing both worlds was important and that neither Benedict’s fantasy life nor Sophie’s harsh reality is enough on its own. She noted that the season does not romanticize servant life but still shows moments of warmth and friendship downstairs.
