Britney Spears Drags Her Family in Belated Christmas Instagram Post
Britney Spears took to Instagram over the weekend to share a belated Christmas message, but it wasn’t the usual festive greeting.
Instead, the 44-year-old pop star directed a sharp message at her estranged family. Posting a photo of a decorated Christmas tree, Spears wrote sarcastically, “Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can’t fix.”

Spears has been estranged from her family since her conservatorship ended in 2021. Her father, Jamie Spears, originally set up the legal arrangement in 2008, gaining control over her finances and personal decisions. Reflecting on that time, Spears said in 2021, “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship … they should be in jail.”
In her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears accused both her parents of taking away her “womanhood” by enforcing the strict conservatorship, while still profiting from her live performances.
Despite the tension with her family, Spears spent Christmas with her 19-year-old son, Jayden. A source told People magazine, “Britney had a fun time celebrating Christmas with Jayden — it’s been such a special holiday.” Her other son, Sean Preston, spent the holidays in Louisiana with his aunt Jamie Lynn Spears’ family.
The boys’ father, Kevin Federline, recently released his memoir, You Thought You Knew. Speaking to Talk Shop Live, he explained that Spears had reconnected with her sons after his book came out.
“They absolutely love their mom, right? I mean, they always, always have, always will. It’s instilled in them. And I’ve always wanted for them to have a connection with their mom, the way I have with my mom,” Federline said.
Spears has criticized Federline over his memoir, claiming he was “constantly gaslighting” her. She also expressed frustration over limited access to her sons: “With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years. I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available.”
Amid the pointed messages, Spears did include a tender note for her 7-year-old niece, Ivey, daughter of her sister Jamie Lynn Spears: “Hello.. I just want to hold you, my love.” She ended her Instagram post with, “Godspeed, friends.”
Spears’ belated Christmas message highlights ongoing family tensions but also her attempts to maintain meaningful connections with her children.
