A new trailer has been released for Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc, giving fans a first look at the upcoming anime film. The movie continues the story from the first season of the Chainsaw Man anime, which is based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s popular manga series.

The film is being made by MAPPA, the same studio behind the anime. Tatsuya Yoshihara is directing, and Hiroshi Seko is writing the script.

The movie will be released in Japan on September 19 by Toho, and it will also play in 61 IMAX theaters. Outside Japan, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Releasing are bringing the movie to theaters around the world, starting in select Asian countries on September 24 and reaching more than 80 countries, including the United States, on October 24.

The story follows Denji, who is now known as Chainsaw Man after merging with a Devil’s heart. He works with the Special Division 4 Devil Hunters. After spending time with Makima, Denji meets Reze, a girl who works at a café, which sets the stage for the movie’s events.

Fans of the series will recognize some returning staff. Kensuke Ushio, who composed the music for the anime series, is back for the film. Popular musician Kenshi Yonezu performs the main theme song, Iris Out, while the ending song, Jane Doe, is a collaboration between Yonezu and Hikaru Utada. Yonezu has previously contributed to the franchise, performing the first season’s opening song, Kick Back.

The movie was first announced at the Jump Festa ’24 event in December 2023, and details were confirmed again at Jump Festa ’25 a year later. The trailer release now gives fans a closer look at the animation and some of the new characters.

Personally, I think the new trailer looks exciting and shows that the film will deliver the dark, action-packed style fans love. What do you think about the upcoming Chainsaw Man movie? Share your thoughts in the comments!
