Channing Tatum is set to return as Gambit in the highly anticipated Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday, and he’s already giving fans plenty to be excited about.

Speaking to ET Online, Tatum promised that the film will be a wild ride for viewers. “It’s gonna make your brains ooze out of your ears, like in the way that I knew when Blade walks on screen in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’… It’s that, times like 50.”

Tatum previously teased that Gambit will have a major showdown with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, hinting at a big action sequence.

On what makes his character unique, Tatum explained, “He likes women, he smokes, he drinks. He’s not just a save-the-world kind of guy — we need those, but we need contrast.” The actor also shared that he worked closely with Marvel executives to refine Gambit’s accent, deciding, “I’m not gonna go full Cajun.”

The Russo brothers, who are directing the movie, want Gambit to bring humor to the story but also carry weight in serious moments. Tatum said, “When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter.”

Filming in London was demanding, with long workdays, but Tatum described the experience as rewarding. He also previously spoke about balancing work and family, admitting that he considered stepping away from the project because of his daughter. “I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do ‘Avengers,’ because I was going to have to be gone, but I was like — it’s OK. She’s going into middle school now.”

Tatum first brought Gambit to life in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, where the character quickly became a fan favorite. Now, he reunites with X-Men legends like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden.

Tatum has a long history with Gambit, having been attached to a solo movie and even co-directing parts of it with Reid Carolin, though the project was shelved after Disney acquired Fox in 2019.

Fans have reacted with excitement at the news of Gambit’s return, praising Tatum’s energy and charisma. Social media is buzzing with speculation about how he will fit into the larger Avengers storyline, especially after hints of his face-off with Doctor Doom.

Avengers: Doomsday looks set to be a thrilling and action-packed installment for both Marvel and X-Men fans. Tatum’s enthusiasm and promise of mind-blowing moments have only raised the anticipation. What do you think about Gambit coming back to the MCU? Share your thoughts in the comments.
