Charithra Chandran joined the cast and fans at the premiere event for One Piece: Into the Grand Line, marking the next step in the live-action story. The event focused on the upcoming second season, which takes the Straw Hat crew into the Grand Line for the first time.

This part of the story moves the crew into new and dangerous territory. The season will explore places like Drum Island and the desert kingdom tied to the Alabasta storyline.

Chandran, who plays Miss Wednesday and Nefertari Vivi, has spoken in interviews about how she approaches the role. She explained that the original work by Eiichiro Oda guides the cast closely. As she put it, Oda-sensei’s manga is the Bible for us in the show, of course, while the anime is supplementary for us.

She also reflected on how she sees her place in the larger story. According to Chandran, in the expansive universe of One Piece, I play a small part – she is a beautiful piece in a huge puzzle that is the whole story.

Talking about filming, she shared her surprise at how much of the production relies on real sets. She said, Shockingly, how practical it is… in One Piece, at least, the sets are all real, the stuff happening is all real.

Outside the series, Chandran has taken on several new projects. She appeared in Dune: Prophecy and starred in the action comedy Fight or Flight alongside Josh Hartnett. She also led the holiday film Christmas Karma. Many viewers still remember her from Bridgerton.

The returning cast includes Iñaki Godoy and Mackenyu, along with Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar. New additions include Joe Manganiello, Katey Sagal, David Dastmalchian, and Lera Abova.

The first two episodes will be shown in theaters starting March 10, 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Japan. Production has continued in South Africa to capture the scale of the Grand Line.

Netflix has confirmed that a third season is already in development, with Oda still involved in guiding the adaptation.

Bringing the Alabasta story to live action could be a big moment for the show. It has the scale and emotion that fans care about. What do you think about Chandran joining this part of the story? Share your thoughts in the comments.
