Charlie Cox has accidentally delivered some heartbreaking news for fans of Daredevil: Born Again. While speaking at a panel during a recent conference, Cox seemed to confirm that the upcoming second season of the Marvel series will also be the show’s final season.

“I know there have been some leaked set photos so the one that we’ve just finished with in season 2 of Born Again I think is my favorite for a couple of reasons. One, because it is badass, but also because every suit that we’ve had in some way is represented in the comics. We’ve had a couple of red ones, two I think three red ones, we’ve had the She-Hulk golden, you know yellow and red, but there’s a particular, there’s something I can’t say without giving away too much, but there’s something that we do in this final season that doesn’t exist in the comics so it is unique to the show,” Cox said.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will follow Matt Murdock as he gathers allies to resist Wilson Fisk, the mayor of New York City, and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. The show is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and ties into other films and series. The season is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026 and will consist of eight episodes.

Cox returns as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio reprises his role as Wilson Fisk, the city’s mayor and crime lord. Other returning characters include Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, the Punisher.

Also returning are Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Fisk’s Mental Health Commissioner and Murdock’s ex, and Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, a psychopathic assassin who will show new sides of his personality this season. Krysten Ritter also joins as Jessica Jones, who teams up with Daredevil despite their different approaches to crime-fighting.

Fans are especially curious about the special suit Cox mentioned in his panel remarks. Previous leaks showed him wearing a black Daredevil costume, but this design has appeared in comics before, making it unlikely to be the unique suit he hinted at.

Throughout the comics, Daredevil has worn several black suits, including during the ‘Shadowland’ crossover, where he became corrupted by the demon Beast, and later a hybrid Shadowland-and-traditional design. Cox’s comment suggests the series will introduce a completely new look that hasn’t appeared in any comics before.

Filming for season two began on February 28, 2025, under the working title Out the Kitchen 2. Directors included Benson and Moorhead, Naim, MacDonald, and Barnes. Hillary Fyfe Spera returned as cinematographer, joined by Jeffrey Waldron, and Philip Silvera returned as stunt coordinator and second unit director. By mid-May, production was halfway done and filming officially wrapped on July 9.

Fans are now preparing for what Cox has seemingly confirmed: season two will not only deliver thrilling new storylines and suits but will also serve as the final chapter of Daredevil: Born Again.
