Charlie Hunnam Reveals His All-Time Favorite Movie Trilogy
Charlie Hunnam has shared his favourite film trilogy, naming the Danish Pusher series as a personal favourite. In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, the actor explained why the third film, Pusher III, stands out to him.
“I think Pusher III is a masterpiece; Pusher II I like a great deal; and Pusher is my least favorite of the trilogy, which is the only time I’ve ever had that experience,” Hunnam said.
“I really like the struggle of that character through Pusher III. Unlike the other films, he’s really, really trying to do the right thing with his life over the course of that film. And you just see that, because of the environment he’s in and the forces that surround him, that he keeps getting pulled down over and over and over until he descends into total darkness at the end.” He said.
The Pusher trilogy, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, explores Copenhagen’s violent criminal underworld with gritty realism. The series has been praised by critics, with Rotten Tomatoes scores of 83%, 100%, and 93% for the three films.
Each movie focuses on a different lead character. The first follows mid-level drug dealer Frank, played by Kim Bodnia.
The second centres on Frank’s friend Tonny, portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen. The third follows the Serbian gang leader Milo, played by Zlatko Burić, who is the only character to appear in all three films. Burić also reprised his role in the British remake released in 2012.
Hunnam’s admiration for Pusher III highlights the character’s struggle and perseverance in a harsh environment, which he found compelling compared to the other films in the series.
It’s interesting to see actors share the films that inspire them, and Hunnam’s appreciation for the Pusher trilogy shows his love for complex storytelling and character struggles. Do you have a favourite trilogy that has stuck with you? Share your thoughts in the comments.
