Charlie Sheen Remembers School Days Hanging Out With Young Robert Downey Jr.
Charlie Sheen recently shared some nostalgic memories from his high school days on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, revealing that he and Robert Downey Jr. were actually classmates at Santa Monica High School. Sheen’s brothers, Ramon and Emilio Estevez, also attended the same school, making it a real family affair.
Sheen explained that while he and Downey Jr. were in the same grade, Downey was closer to his brother Ramon. “Well, yeah, but it’s interesting. He was friends with my brother Ramon. Okay. Ramon’s between Emilio and myself, right? And so they were like buddies for a long time. So I would see Downey because Downey and I were in the same grade,” he recalled.
However, Sheen noted that he didn’t see Downey Jr. around campus much. The future Iron Man star had started working in theater at a young age, which kept him busy and often off-campus.
“But I think he started working earlier than the rest of us. Or was at least doing things theatrically that didn’t keep him on the campus. So, he had like a legitimate reason to not be there, unlike me, you know, playing video games in Westwood with my buddy Pat,” Sheen added.
Despite the limited interaction during high school, both actors eventually found their way into Hollywood and became part of the famous Brat Pack alongside other stars like Rob Lowe and Sean Penn, who also attended Santa Monica High.
Sheen also reminisced about other high school experiences, including getting his first car, which he said gave him his first taste of freedom. “People could come up with a lot of jokes when they learn that my first car was a Ford Escort,” he joked.
Later, he convinced his mother to buy him a 1982 BMW 320, which marked another step toward independence.
These stories give a rare glimpse into the early lives of two of Hollywood’s biggest names, showing that even stars like Sheen and Downey Jr. started out with ordinary school experiences, friendships, and the excitement of a first car.
It’s fascinating to see how childhood connections can grow into lifelong careers in the entertainment world. What do you think about Sheen and Downey Jr.’s high school days? Share your thoughts in the comments.
