Charlie Sheen has spoken out about his father Martin Sheen’s recent criticism of President Donald Trump, questioning the timing of the remarks.

The actor shared his thoughts during a recorded episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show” that aired Friday.

Martin Sheen had appeared on Nicolle Wallace’s podcast, “The Best People,” in October, calling Trump “the biggest nothing in the world” and urging him to connect with his humanity.

The West Wing star criticized Trump’s behavior and appearance, saying he should “speak from your heart and start being human.”

While Charlie Sheen said he has no problem with his father expressing his opinion, he felt the timing was off. “His timing on that thing was really s****, man,” Charlie said. “I was like, ‘Dad, the timing, the timing, man. You got to read the room.’ Because [Trump] brokers the peace deal and the entire universe is celebrating, and Dad’s with Nicole Wallace.”

Charlie added that he advised his father but ultimately recognized the importance of free speech. “Yeah, yeah, OK. No, own that. You know, because it’s the unpleasant things that we have to grant freedom to as well, right?” he explained. He suggested that Martin could have expressed his views at a different moment rather than during a major international peace development.
