Chris Hemsworth Had to “Bribe” His Daughter to Visit the Set of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Chris Hemsworth had to “bribe” his teenage daughter India Rose Hemsworth to get her to the set of Avengers: Doomsday, he revealed during a recent appearance on The View.
The actor, known worldwide for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, said it took a bit of negotiation to convince India, now 13, to reprise her role as Love. “She’s now 13, so she’s a teenager, so a bit different to when we shot the other one,” Chris explained, referring to her performance in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
He recalled that when India arrived on set, she immediately asked, “Ugh, how long is this gonna take?” before even filming began. After the first take, she reportedly remarked, “Are we done?” Chris told her there were still a few more days of shooting, prompting a groan from the young actress.
“She’s like, ‘Aww, God,’” Chris said, laughing. “She had just this angsty, sort of teenage attitude” and often retreated to a chair or her tent between takes. Eventually, he admitted he had to bribe her to get her back on set. “She’s like, ‘I’m not coming! I’m not even getting paid! What am I even doing here?’ And I go, ‘You are getting paid.’ She goes, ‘Really? You didn’t tell me that.’”
Chris explained that the money from her work would be saved until she turned 18, but India wanted some of it immediately. “She goes, ‘Nah! Nah, I want some of it now,’” he said, joking that even Avengers: Doomsday co-director Joe Russo had to step in to encourage her.
Part of the reason India was hesitant, Chris said, was because she wanted to attend a Billie Eilish concert that evening. “She’s like, ‘When’s it?’ I’m like, ‘It doesn’t start yet! We’re not gonna miss it! Just get on set!’”
The actor eventually convinced her by pointing out that her earnings could go toward buying a new motorbike. “She races motorbikes and rides motorbikes and she goes, ‘…Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?’” Chris recalled. “I was like, ‘You possibly could.’ So a slight negotiation and off she went.”
Chris and India are among the many stars set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which hits theaters on December 18. A teaser trailer released in December showed Thor praying to his father Odin for strength in what promises to be an epic final battle.
The film’s ensemble cast includes Chris Evans, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romjin, and Robert Downey Jr., who returns in an unexpected role as Dr. Doom.
In addition to India, Chris shares twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 11, with wife Elsa Pataky.
