Could Zack Snyder Return to DC? ‘Batman v Superman’ Cinematographer Drops a Hint
The cinematographer of Batman v Superman, Larry Fong, has sparked speculation about Zack Snyder possibly returning to the DC Universe. Fong shared a frame from Batman v Superman on X, formerly known as Twitter, which caught the attention of fans. One fan replied enthusiastically, adding the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderverse.
Fong said, “Zack [Snyder is] posting some past memories on Instagram, so I thought I would too. They were good times. Don’t try to read too much into it.” However, when another fan suggested that Snyder might be hinting at a return, Fong replied, “Never say never…” This short response reignited fan hopes that Snyder could come back to DC projects in some capacity.

Snyder himself addressed his future with the DC Universe in a November 2023 interview. He said he no longer plans to work on superhero comic book adaptations, especially after the conclusion of the DCEU continuity with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
However, he left a small door open, saying he might consider returning if James Gunn asked him to direct a faithful adaptation of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns comic book.
Interestingly, Snyder has maintained a connection to current DC projects. For example, James Gunn consulted him on the design of David Corenswet’s Superman suit for the upcoming Superman film. This shows that while Snyder may have stepped back from directing, his creative input is still valued in the DC Universe.
