Cristiano Ronaldo Is Trading the Pitch for the Screen, and His New Show Already Has a Star Studded Cast

Cristiano Ronaldo has spent his entire career finding new ways to stay in the global spotlight, and even at 41 years old, he shows no signs of slowing that momentum down. Fresh off a disappointing World Cup exit with Portugal, the football icon appears to be channeling his energy into an entirely different arena.

That new arena is scripted television, an area Ronaldo has never formally stepped into before, despite years of building a media empire through commercials, his own YouTube channel, and various business ventures. With his playing career now clearly entering its final stretch, Ronaldo seems intent on making sure his post-football life carries just as much star power as everything that came before it.

That ambition has now taken concrete shape with ‘Day 1s’, a new football drama series Ronaldo will both star in and executive-produce. The show follows a fictional elite football agent named Stanley Dalton, played by ‘Homeland’ and ‘Billions’ star Damian Lewis, as he navigates the high-stakes world of professional football.

The project marks the first television series to emerge from UR Marv Studios, the joint venture Ronaldo launched with ‘Kingsman’ director Matthew Vaughn. The studio was first revealed last year with an explicit goal of shaking up traditional filmmaking by embracing new technology while still respecting established craft, and had previously focused on producing action films before branching into television with this project.

Filming has already begun at Barnet FC’s ground in North West London, with a cast that reads like a who’s who of football crossover talent. Thierry Henry has joined the production and has already been spotted on set, while British rapper Dave and newcomer Carlotta Banat round out the ensemble.

Ronaldo’s own role in the series will reportedly come in the form of a guest appearance rather than a lead performance, marking his first acting credit outside of commercial advertising work. The show’s concept originated with Darren Dein, a real life football agent who represents Henry, giving the drama an authentic foundation drawn directly from the industry it depicts.

Industry insiders have already suggested the project is generating major interest ahead of any formal distribution deal, with one source predicting it is likely to spark a bidding war between major streaming platforms once ready. Given football’s continued global growth and crossover appeal into mainstream entertainment, that kind of early buzz is not entirely surprising.

Vaughn has spoken enthusiastically about his creative partnership with Ronaldo since UR Marv’s founding, describing the athlete’s on-field career as something that produced stories he could never have written himself, and expressing excitement about continuing to build inspiring projects together, in comments made when the joint venture was first announced.

This venture adds to an already sprawling list of business interests Ronaldo has built outside professional football. He became a key investor in Portuguese media conglomerate Medialivre back in October 2023, and launched his own YouTube channel, UR Cristiano, in August 2024, offering fans a more personal look into his life beyond the pitch.

With his football career winding down following Portugal’s round of sixteen exit at the hands of eventual champions Spain, Ronaldo’s move into scripted drama suggests he has no intention of stepping out of the spotlight anytime soon. Whether ‘Day 1s’ becomes the breakout hit insiders are predicting remains to be seen, but the level of talent already attached suggests Ronaldo is taking this new chapter just as seriously as everything else he has built.

‘Day 1s’ is currently in production, with a release date and distribution platform yet to be announced.
