Cristin Milioti Stuns at Sundance in Ultra-Tiny Micro-Shorts That Had Everyone Talking
Cristin Milioti surprised a lot of people at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, and not because of a dramatic movie moment. It was her outfit that sparked the most talk. Sundance is known for freezing temperatures, so warm coats are usually the main focus. That is why her look stood out right away.
Milioti arrived in Park City on January 22, for the world premiere of her new film Buddy. Photos and videos from the event quickly spread online, shared by fashion accounts and reporters covering Sundance. According to festival coverage, she wore a Saint Laurent Fall 2025 leather bomber jacket layered over a knit sweater. At first glance, it felt practical and right for Utah winter weather.
Then came the unexpected part. Instead of pants or a long skirt, she paired the jacket with lace-trimmed silk lingerie-style shorts from Saint Laurent’s Resort 2026 collection. The mix of winter layers and barely-there bottoms caught many people off guard, especially given the snow and cold around her.

This kind of styling is often seen on stars like Zoë Kravitz or Hailey Bieber, who are known for playing with contrast and shock value. For Milioti, though, it felt unusual. Her past red carpet looks tend to be softer and more classic, which made this choice feel like a sharp turn.
Milioti was in town to promote Buddy, a horror-comedy directed by Casper Kelly, who is best known for the viral short Too Many Cooks. In the film, she plays a mother in the real world who becomes mentally connected to a strange children’s TV show.
Things spiral when a giant, mascot-style character goes on a violent rampage. The movie also stars Topher Grace and Keegan-Michael Key and uses puppets and practical effects.
Speaking to reporters at Sundance, Milioti explained why the project appealed to her. To me, it felt light and moving and beautiful, even though horrors happen in it, she said. She also described the film as a lighter experience after playing Sofia Falcone in HBO’s The Penguin.
That role brought her major awards attention in 2025, including a Primetime Emmy win. Around the same time, she returned as Nanette Cole in the Black Mirror sequel USS Callister: Into Infinity, which brought her back into the sci-fi spotlight.
Looking ahead, Milioti is shifting back toward comedy. Industry reports confirmed she has joined an untitled country music comedy directed by Judd Apatow, starring Glen Powell and Madelyn Cline. She is also attached to a new animated voice role following the release of Netflix’s In Your Dreams in late 2025.
While her Sundance outfit may have confused some fans, her career path is anything but unclear. Between awards wins, bold roles, and now risk-taking fashion, Cristin Milioti is clearly in a moment where she feels free to experiment.
Whether the “lingerie in the snow” look worked or not depends on who you ask. But it did exactly what fashion is often meant to do. It got people talking.
