Crows Tear Through Rapunzel Animatronic’s Hair in Shocking Scene in Tokyo’s DisneySea Park
Visitors at Tokyo DisneySea got an unexpected scare recently when crows attacked the Rapunzel animatronic during the Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival ride. The Tangled-inspired boat attraction, located in the Fantasy Springs section of the park, features Rapunzel singing from her tower window. However, a viral video shows two large crows pecking at the long blonde hair of the animatronic, pulling out thick tufts as the figure continues to sway and sing.
The video quickly circulated on social media, leaving viewers both horrified and a little amused. It appears the birds were likely taking the hair to use in their nests, but the scene looked like Rapunzel was being scalped right in the middle of her tower.
Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival opened in June 2024 and celebrates the story of Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder through a romantic boat ride. The animatronic itself is part of Disney’s newest wave of advanced audio-animatronics, designed to move fluidly and interact with guests. Despite the careful engineering, incidents like this show that even the most sophisticated Disney figures aren’t immune to nature.

This isn’t the first animatronic mishap to go viral. Not long ago, Olaf from Frozen stopped working mid-performance at Disneyland Paris. The life-like snowman collapsed onto the ground, and his carrot nose popped off, creating a viral moment that fans couldn’t stop talking about.
While Disney continues to push the boundaries of animatronic technology, these glitches, whether caused by nature or technical failure—remind visitors that anything can happen at a theme park.
It’s both hilarious and slightly tragic to see Rapunzel’s hair attacked like this. It’s a reminder that even Disney magic has its unpredictable moments. What do you think about this bizarre encounter at Tokyo DisneySea? Share your thoughts in the comments.
