Crunchyroll is giving anime fans a chance to catch up on the full first season of Chainsaw Man for free ahead of the new movie release.

The streaming platform uploaded the English dub of the series to YouTube as part of a “Chainsaw Man The Movie: The Reze Arc Catch-Up Watch Party.”

The video runs close to five hours, giving viewers plenty of time to revisit Denji’s early adventures or experience the story for the first time. You can check it out here.

The new film, Chainsaw Man: The Reze Arc, is set to hit North American theaters on October 24. It continues directly from the end of the first season and introduces Reze, a new character who brings both danger and unexpected romantic complications for Denji.

According to Crunchyroll, the movie is a Japanese animated dark fantasy action film based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s popular manga. It was produced by MAPPA, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, and written by Hiroshi Seko.

The film premiered in Japan on September 19, through Toho, and will release worldwide via Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Releasing from September 24 to October 24.

The movie had a strong opening in Japan. On its first day, it sold over 272,000 tickets, earning roughly ¥420 million (around $2.8 million). By the end of its opening weekend, it sold more than 807,000 tickets and earned ¥1.251 billion (about $8.46 million), topping the Japanese box office and taking the number one spot from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, which had led for nine weeks.

This free watch party is a great way for fans to get ready for the Reze Arc and dive back into the world of Chainsaw Man before the movie arrives in theaters.

Crunchyroll’s move is smart, it gives fans easy access to the story and builds hype for the movie. Do you plan to watch the full first season before seeing the Reze Arc? Share your thoughts in the comments.
