Daniel Craig Returns in New Sneak Peek at “Wake Up Dead Man,” the Next Knives Out Mystery
Fans of the Knives Out series are excited to see Daniel Craig back as detective Benoit Blanc in the upcoming movie Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. This third installment in the franchise, directed by Rian Johnson, promises a new cast and a fresh mystery. Netflix recently shared a new image from the film, giving fans a closer look ahead of its release.
The new picture features Daniel Craig and Josh O’Connor sitting in a car, both looking tired and deep in thought. You can almost see Benoit Blanc piecing together clues in his mind. Josh O’Connor plays Rev. Jud Duplenticy, who appears to be working alongside Blanc to solve the case. But in the world of Knives Out, anyone could be guilty, so the mystery remains wide open. The movie will also be the opening film at the 69th BFI London Film Festival.
Wake Up Dead Man follows Benoit Blanc as he investigates a murder with many possible suspects. The creators are keeping the details of the story under wraps. The trailer shows the main setting is a church, called the “holy grail” for a man who loves logic and reason. Several characters look suspicious, but the full mystery will only be revealed once the movie comes out.

Director Rian Johnson spoke with Collider about the new film and the future of the series. He said, “One of the things I love about the mystery genre is that it holds the whodunit. Like sci-fi, it encompasses so many other types of genres. ‘Wake Up Dead Man,’ this next movie, is so different than ‘Glass Onion.’ It’s like night and day. And so, as long as we keep doing that, it’s exciting.”
The movie’s cast is packed with well-known actors. Alongside Craig and O’Connor, Glenn Close plays Martha, Josh Brolin is another priest named Jefferson, Mila Kunis stars as Geraldine, and Jeremy Renner plays Dr. Nat Sharp. The film also features Kerry Washington as Vera Draven, Andrew Scott as Lee Ross, Cailee Spaeny as Simone, Daryl McCormack as Cy, and Thomas Haden Church as Samson.
Netflix will release Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery on December 12, 2025.
