A new teaser for the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again has revealed that a familiar Marvel character will return to the story. The short preview, recently released by Disney, shows that Jack Duquesne, also known as the Swordsman, will appear again and may play a bigger role this time.

The character is played by Tony Dalton. He briefly appeared during the first season of the series, but his screen time was limited. Even so, the teaser suggests that the Swordsman will become more involved in the story when the next season arrives.

Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again followed the rise of Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, as he tightened his control over New York. By the end of the season, the villain had gained a strong position in the city. The story in Season 2 is expected to continue from that point, with Matt Murdock preparing to push back against Fisk’s growing power.

Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock, who will once again step in to defend the city. The new season is expected to show him gathering allies to challenge Kingpin’s rule and protect the people of New York.

The Swordsman’s appearance in the first season came in episode six. In that moment, Jack Duquesne stepped forward to help protect civilians and show his skills as a swordsman. His actions quickly caught attention, but things took a turn when Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Force arrested him.

Even though his role was short, the character left an impression on viewers. Because of that, many fans were curious if he would appear again. The recent teaser confirms that the story for the Swordsman is not over yet.

The character first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the series Hawkeye, which premiered in 2021. At first, Jack Duquesne seemed suspicious and many viewers believed he might turn out to be a villain. However, the story later showed him in a more heroic light, which helped the character gain popularity among fans.

Since Marvel projects sometimes introduce characters briefly and then pause their stories for a while, some viewers believed the Swordsman’s appearance in Season 1 was only a small cameo. Now that the teaser has confirmed his return, many fans expect the character to have a larger role when the next season arrives.

Several members of the cast and creative team have previously said in interviews that the first season mainly set up the story. According to them, the bigger events and character arcs will develop further in the second season.

Bringing the Swordsman back is a good move for the show. The character already caught the attention of fans, even with limited screen time. Giving him a bigger role could add something fresh to the story and expand the group of allies around Daredevil. What do you think about the return of the Swordsman in the next season?
