David Corenswet Explains How Dramatic His Transformation into Superman Was: “didn’t feel great”
2025 will be a great year for DC Studios, even though ‘Creature Commandos’ are releasing this December, both Gunn and Safran stated in the past that ‘Superman’ is bound to be a true start of the DCU.
With the new cinematic universe comes a new Superman actor. Although fans hated that Cavill lost his gig as the Man of Steel, as soon as the first photos of Corenswert transformed into a superhero dropped, even the critics fell silent.
The actor recently sat down with ‘Manly Things (Sort Of)‘ podcast and talked about his dramatic transformation for the role. The actor revealed that the change initially did not feel great at all due to all this extra weight that his body just wasn’t accustomed to.
I wasn’t 238 (pounds) when we started shooting. I was 238 at my max. I didn’t fit into any of my pants.
Corenswet joked about the moment he realized he’d grown into a 2XL size while putting on a Champion sweatshirt at a table read for the film.
That was at the peak of my bulk. And then I slowly lost weight before we started shooting. I started shooting at about 228, 230…I know I wanted this to be my excuse to see what it felt like to gain essentially as much weight as I could.
Corenswet is just one of many male superhero stars who are in recent times coming clean about how terrible it is to adjust to extra weight or dehydrate yourself to look great for a shoot.
There’s also Hugh Jackman, who recently opened up regarding his awful high-calorie diet to look good at his age for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’
In any case, we still look forward to seeing Corenswet as Superman and we will get the opportunity relatively soon as the movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
