David Harbour recently opened up about the “mistakes” and “slip-ups” he has experienced over his 50 years, reflecting on his personal and professional life in an interview with Esquire Spain published Saturday.

The discussion comes amid his divorce from singer Lily Allen and rumors involving an alleged complaint from his “Stranger Things” co-star Millie Bobby Brown.

When asked if he would change anything in his life, Harbour admitted it was a complicated question. “That’s such a hard question – the question of regret, or something. I would change either everything or nothing,” he said.

“You either accept your path completely and realize that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that.” He added, “It’s kind of like a house of cards, the minute you try to change one thing you kind of have to change it all.”

Harbour also explained how his experiences shape his work as an artist. “If you’ve never been through anything, what do you really have to offer?” he said. “If I were to change anything, I’d change everything, and just make my life happy and silly and like, whatever, and then I wouldn’t be an artist anymore. And that would suck.” He emphasized that he wants to create “more stories that are complex and rich” that make audiences feel a wide range of emotions.

He also spoke about personal goals beyond his career, saying, “There’s personal stuff that I want to do, and people that I want to love, and be good to and nurture, things like that.”

Harbour’s comments come shortly after Allen shared that he violated their “agreed-upon boundaries” during their marriage. In an interview with The Times, Allen said, “There are usually agreed-upon boundaries in relationships. But whether those boundaries are adhered to or not is becoming a grey area all of a sudden. Dating apps make people disposable and that leads to the idea that if you are not happy, there’s so much more to choose from — right in your pocket.”

In addition to the divorce, Harbour has faced rumors about an alleged complaint filed by Millie Bobby Brown on the set of “Stranger Things.” The Daily Mail reported that Brown submitted “pages and pages” of allegations.

The report noted that the complaints were not se**** in nature, though an internal inquiry reportedly took place.

Harbour’s reflections reveal a man taking accountability for his life and career, while also emphasizing the importance of personal experience in his work. He seems to view both challenges and mistakes as necessary for growth.
