Crunchyroll has confirmed the release schedule for the remaining films in the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy.

According to The Guardian, Part 2 of Infinity Castle is set to hit theaters in 2027, while the final installment is planned for 2029.

The announcement comes after Infinity Castle Part 1 achieved major success at the global box office. It first premiered in Japan on July 18, and rolled out internationally throughout August and September.

Mitchel Berger, Crunchyroll’s executive vice-president and head of theatrical, told The Guardian, “We have spent the last eight years building this fandom. Coming out of the pandemic, that fandom has just continued to grow.”

The pandemic played an important role in shaping the franchise’s success. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train became one of the first big theatrical hits after COVID-19 restrictions eased. With major studios still cautious about releasing films in cinemas, Mugen Train’s theatrical release stood out and helped elevate Demon Slayer from a popular Shonen Jump anime into a global phenomenon.

The success of Mugen Train paved the way for Infinity Castle’s impressive box office numbers and influenced the release strategies of other anime, including Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. Some franchises, like Mobile Suit Gundam, Dandadan, and Jujutsu Kaisen, have followed Demon Slayer’s model of using theatrical releases to debut new content or season previews. Chainsaw Man may even skip a traditional TV season entirely in favor of cinematic releases for the upcoming “International Assassins Arc.”

Demon Slayer’s theatrical approach has clearly reshaped how anime reaches international audiences, combining high-quality animation with the excitement of a big-screen experience.
